Chick-fil-A CopyCat Peach Milkshake

Chick-fil-A’s Peach Milkshake is out for a limited time until the end of June!
Have you had one yet??
Talk about the most delicious perfect peach milkshake!!
I have looked around and you know what, you cannot find this recipe on the Internet. Of Course, I get it, I really do. Their don’t want their competitors to get a hold of it, because then Chick-fil-A would not have a winning milkshake on their hands.
I wanted to copycat their recipe and share it with you all, but no copycat recipe here.
Just a very…very…close recipe and it is soooooo good, you can call it the perfect copycat peach milkshake.
You will love it! It is delicious!
Here is the recipe:
Chick-fil-A CopyCat Peach Milkshake
By Carrie Perrins
2 cups French vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup half and half
1/8 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/2 banana
1 1/2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
Put all ingredients into blender and blend on high for 1 minute.
Pour into glasses and top with Reddi Wip®  dairy whipped topping and a cherry.
Serve immediately.
I think these are the perfect copycat peach milkshakes. If you can’t get out to your local Chick-fil-A and have one of their famous peach milkshakes, then copycat this recipe. You will not be disappointed.
Enjoy!

Mountain Dew Floats

mountain dew floats

Are there any die hard Mtn Dew® fans out there??  I met my husband when I was 15 years old. I am sure he had can of Mtn Dew® in his hand. My husbands family are true Mtn Dew® fans! The entire family loves the stuff! Every time we get together you can bet that there are many cans of dew being drunk, even by the little ones!
Well… in the summertime for our family reunions, get togethers, and or just hanging out on the decks in the jacuzzi we have a Mtn Dew® float in out hands!
Our family has changed the classic root beer float into a mountain dew float, and we love it!! This is a family tradition! This is a summer tradition!

Here is the very simple recipe:

Mtn Dew® Floats
By Carrie Perrins

Several scoops or your favorite Vanilla Ice Cream
1 (12 oz) can of Mtn Dew®

Directions:
Scoop ice cream into a mug. Pour over as much, or as little Mtn Dew® as you would like.
Serve.
I like to mix mine up and stick it back into the freezer for a Mtn Dew® freeze. To…die…for!!

FYI: The original Mtn Dew® formula was invented in 1940 by Tennessee beverage bottlers. A revised formula was created by Bill Bridgforth in 1958! Pepsi acquired it in 1964.
Mtn Dew® can only be found where they serve Pepsi® products. One of my husband’s pet peeves, you go into a restaurant that only serves Coke® products and you don’t get Mtn. Dew®.
Add this float to your summer bucket list! I promise you, your family, husband, kiddos, friends will love it!
Enjoy those HOT summer days with a Mtn Dew® Float.

Strawberry Bread

strawberry bread

Tis the season- Strawberry season that is!! I love this time of year, where you get big, red, juicy, strawberries from your farmers market. I make freezer jam and regulars jams. I make smoothies, shakes, and bread!
If you missed yesterday’s post about cleaning out my freezer, you must read it! Here is the link. I found a bag of strawberries that were a year old. Yes… they are still good. You see… strawberries can last up to a year in the freezer. I knew I had to use them right away and so I did. This Strawberry Bread is so… d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s.!

Here is the recipe:

Strawberry Bread
By Carrie Perrins

Blend in Blender:
1/2 cup vegetable oil
16 ounce pkg. frozen strawberries, thawed and drained
4 eggs

Blend together:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Blend dry ingredients with strawberry mixture by hand in large mixing bowl. Put into greased bread pans or tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour. Check after 45 minutes and keep checking until it looks done.
Let cool for about 10-15 minutes before removing from pan.

I choose to make these in mini bread loaf pans. I love mini pans!

Strawberry season is here, so slice and serve up some Strawberry Bread!

May your day bring you sweetness!

Cinco de Mayo Free Printable

To download your own free copy, just right click on the image above, SAVE to your computer and print.

Today is my sister’s Birthday! I love my sister. In this picture she is holding my baby Jayd. My sister Amy is an amazing woman. My sister Amy married my husband’s older brother. So… not only are sisters we are sister-in-laws. He He.
Yes… you read that right. So… we get to see each other often for both sides of family reunions. It is so fun and awesome.
We have been best friends since I was twelve. She is so kind, peaceful, she is really good with children-she knows how to calm them and make them happy. She is so full of wisdom and understanding. We don’t live close to each other. But… we love to talk on the phone. Some days it has been a full hour long conversation, but we learn so much from each other.
Amy has always been my dad’s favorite. My dad does have favorites, and I am okay with that because Amy is Awesome! Amy is 6 years older than me and basically raised me and my brothers and younger sister, my mom worked full time.
Well… My dad has these sayings that we as a family repeat over and over. This saying, “After a Fiesta comes a Siesta” is one of them. Almost every Sunday after our midday meal he sits in his chair and takes a nap. Memories. I love my family.
So… this free printable is in honor of my sister since she has had to have her birthday every year on Cinco de Mayo and also because she is my dad’s favorite and this is one of his favorite sayings.
I found this Mexican Chicken recipe off of Pinterest some time ago and made it last time we were all together at a family reunion. Amy’s family loved it and it has become their favorite meal! It is so easy and delicious.!
For our Cinco de Mayo celebrations we will be having it for dinner, and we will be eating these Apple Enchiladas for dessert.  And I am pretty sure we will be enjoying a siesta!
May you enjoy this Cinco de Mayo with your loved ones!

5 Tips On Inviting Your Neighbors Over For Dinner

We have lived in our neighbor for 3 years now. I love my house. I love the area we live in, however they are few families. We have 4 girls and I would love to say… go outside and play with neighbor kids. Not happening in our neighborhood. We had some new neighbors move in down the street about three months ago with a little girl my daughter’s age. We were so excited to have kids move into the neighborhood. We decided to invite them over for dinner to get to know them better, and this worked out perfect with the challenge from Capturing Joy with Kristen Duke.

Here are a few tips on inviting your neighbors over for dinner-

Tip #1- Be Open and Spontaneous!

You are cooking anyway right?? I know that over the years some nights I didn’t end up having a meal planned or prepared and friends or family called up and said hey, come over for dinner, we have plenty!  I love those nights!

My husband is famous for this one! He would text me midmorning and say so and so is coming for dinner tonight or tomorrow night. I would frantically pull things together but it always worked out!

We asked our new neighbors on a Sunday night. We knew we had a pretty open week, so we were hoping any night that week would work. They said that Monday the very next day would work best for them! Yea!

Tip #2- You don’t have to plan a big extravagant meal!

Usually you would want to impress your quests with your cooking skills, but with the many quests I have had in my home over the years, it really isn’t about the food. It is about building the friendship.
For my dinner challenge, I had already planned My Weekly Menu and Baked Potato was on the schedule. That was easy enough for me to just add a few more potatoes the the oven.

Tip #3- Allow people to bring something!

For the longest time I wanted to provide the entire meal, and dessert.  Don’t do this! I have learned that people are so generous and giving. They want to help you out as the hostess. They want to show their appreciation for the invitation. Let them bring something.
Our guests were texted the menu plan and we said to bring whatever you would like to add to it. They ended up bringing a delicious spinach salad.

Tip #4- Don’t be disappointed if something goes wrong with your meal or they don’t like it!

Remember… it is not about the food! I have had so many experiences where I would go to all this trouble and fix these big meals and they wouldn’t eat it, didn’t like it, or wasn’t hungry, etc. I have thrown many plates away with food that the kiddos haven’t even touched. It happens, and it is ok. The dinner is truly only to get to know them better.

Our new neighbors came around 5:30 p.m. for dinner. I had baked potatoes hot and ready. We served up dinner and sat down at the dining room table and enjoyed a nice dinner.  We talked about where we were from, our jobs, our lives, etc. It was fun to get to know them better.
As I was sitting there I noticed our quest was not eating his potato. I looked closer and it was black! I asked him if his potato was bad?? He was kind and said that he didn’t notice. I noticed that it was black and apologized for it. I told him he could go and get another one. A bad potato?? I have never had that happen to me! He didn’t go and get another one.
I was embarrassed, but what could I do?? I  had washed the potatoes and wrapped them in tinfoil and I did not notice this at all!
Don’t be disappointed. It is okay if something goes wrong or they don’t like your food.

Tip #5-Always have a dessert.

This is my favorite part of having guests over. I love being able to share a yummy treat with them. It closes out the meal. Even if they refuse it, have it available.

I made Rice Krispy Treats. Simple and kid approved.

The kids went out to play on the trampoline while we still talked and visited. Most dinner invitations will take about 1-2 hours.

We loved having our new neighbors over. We loved sharing time together.

This challenge has officially ended, but you could still have someone over for dinner, I am sure they would appreciate the invite!

Mother’s Day Mod Podge Canvas Photos

Mother's Day Mod Podge Canvas Photos

Last night we had a mother daughter activity through our church. It was so fun! I was lucky and my mom was in town and I have two daughters so my mom got to come and be my daughters Bree’s date. It was special to have my mom with me at this activity too! Mom and Daughter activities are the best!

The decorations were amazing! My friend who was in charge owns and manages a wedding business, hence beautiful decorations!!

We had assigned seating with our daughters.

 Bree and Grandma!

 Me and Bo.

We started off by playing a get to know you game. You took a handful of M&M’s and divided them out by color. Then they had Questions posted on the wall.

Whatever color you had the most of you had to answer that question. My question was… If you could take a picture of yourself anywhere in the world where would it be??

I said I got lucky and had already done this. I choose the Redwood Forest. It is the most amazing place! Trees that are sooo big around, and over 300 feet tall. We got to go there on a family vacation 2 years ago. Most Beautiful Place Ever!!

Then at this point we started a Mod Podge Canvas Print Photo. The canvas’ were provided for this activity. The pictures were taken by the leader a week in advance.
You will need:
  • 1 8×10 canvas
  • 1 8×10 picture
  • Paint color of your choice
  • Mod Podge®
  • Disposable paint brushes

Step 1: The first step was to paint the canvas sides. Sorry… I forgot to take a picture at this point as my hands were busy holding the canvas for my daughter while she painted the sides with a silver glittery color.

We then went back to the tables and let the sides dry for about 10 minutes. We had other moms and daughters answer their questions. It was so fun to hear some of their questions and answers. One that stuck out was, What was something that you were glad that your mom taught you that you are going to teach with your own daughter?? This little 8 year old girl cracked us up with, she was glad her mom taught her how to be pody training and she is excited to teach her daughter. We were laughing so hard!

Step 2:  Paint the top of the canvas with Mod Podge®. Just make sure that their isn’t too much glue. Lay your picture, centered on the canvas. Press down and make sure their are no bubbles. After a few minutes… paint over the entire picture with Mod Podge®. Let dry. If you need additional information this tutorial is great!

At this point we went back to our tables and finished the mommy daughter questions and let the pictures completely dry.
We then had some yummy desserts. My favorite was the Sherbet. Delicious!

Me and my two beautiful daughters, Bo and Bree. We had such a fun night together.
We stayed a little bit after the activity and helped clean up…. well at least I did. These two girls were having too much fun.

Here are our finished Mom/Daughter Canvas Photos! I hung them in their room!
What was fun, was that they did this themselves! They loved painting the edges and gluing the pictures.
This was such a wonderful night to spend with my two daughters and my mom!

I love being a mom. I love having daughters. I loved having my mom here to share this special night with me and my daughters. I think I might just go make one for my mom…
Good Day!
